How do I prepare for my appointment?

• DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL or CAFFEINE 24 hours prior to your appointment
• DO NOT TAKE PARACETAMOL or other blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin or Vitamin E unless medically necessary for at least 72 hours prior to your appointment.
• Botox should be carried out either 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after your appointment.
• Avoid booking your appointment during your menstrual cycle as it can increase your pain.
• No waxing, tanning or tinting for at least 3 days before.
• Ensure you arrive to your appointment make-up free, simply because during the treatment, a lot of wiping of pigment takes place and makeup can be ruined.
• After your treatment, be prepared for your brows to look a little red and really dark! – don’t worry, they will fade in colour by 30-50%.

How long does a microblading treatment take?

Microblading is a 2 step process, usually 6-8 weeks apart. It is extremely important that your complete both the initial procedure and touch up.

Step 1: The initial procedure takes approximately 2 hours. During this time, a
consultation is done where we discuss your desired brow look, choose a colour tone and draw the initial outline of the procedure area for your approval. Though our faces are NOT perfectly symmetrical (one side is usually flatter than the other), we do our very best to create as much symmetry as possible! As we like to say BROWS ARE SISTERS, NOT TWINS. Once you are satisfied with the basic shape and symmetry, the area is then traced over and semi-permanent pigment is applied with a disposable microblading hand tool. This procedure uses a manual hand tool and not a machine.

Step 2: The second stage of the treatment is a TOUCH-UP appointment. The touch up takes approximately 1 hour and is included in the price of your service. Touch ups are carried out no earlier than 5 weeks prior to your initial procedure and no later than 10 weeks post initial procedure. If you do not schedule your touch up appointment within 10 weeks, you will be required to pay an additional touch up fee.

It is IMPERATIVE you complete the touch up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal. Colour will fade significantly within 4 weeks as the skin heals, peels and fades. The touch up corrects any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes, color tones and finishes off the process.

**Occasionally a third touch up (4-6 weeks later) is necessary for certain clients where the pigment does not take as well to the skin.**

How long can I expect it to last?

The pigment used for microblading is semi-permanent and can last between 1-3 years. The pigment will begin to fade within 12 months. In order to keep your brows looking fresh, a touch up is recommended every 12 months to 24 months maximum. After 2 years, full price for a microblading treatment will apply.

For clients that may choose a softer look with a lighter lighter color shade initially or those that do not follow the after care instructions properly may require more frequent touch ups.

Factors that will cause your microbladed brow to fade faster include:
• Iron deficiency
• Sun exposure
• Exfoliants
• Strong immune systems
• Exposure to salt water
• Smoking

Are Semi-Permanent Eyebrows deemed permanent?

Technically, semi-permanent micro-pigmentation is considered permanent because the colour is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the pigment is not implanted as deep as a traditional tattoo, so it naturally fades over time.

Does the application hurt?

We will take every precaution necessary to ensure the microblading procedure is as pain free as possible. A strong topical anaesthetic cream is used prior to and during the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. Some clients find the procedure a little uncomfortable while others report no discomfort at all.

How long is the recovery or healing time?

Immediately after your microblading appointment, and within the first 10 days, you will find that your brows appear significantly darker and more defined than your desired look. Your brows may continue to get darker over the next few days, this is due to the healing process and scabs beginning to form, to not be alarmed however, because this is not an accurate indication of the finished and healed result. As the scabs fall off, 30-50% of your brow color will fade. In some cases, the scabs can take longer to heal and fall off. DO NOT PICK YOUR SCABS, by picking your scabs you will be prematurely removing pigment from your skin, therefore causing excessive fading. Everybody heals differently, and at different rates, and what works for one client may not be effective for another so please do try not to compare your results with anybody else’s.

The complete healing process generally takes approximately 6 weeks.

How do you choose a colour?

We would choose a colour together during consultation, we do this by applying small amounts of different coloured pigments onto your skin near to your brows and then selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference. As a rule of thumb, we would closely match the color of your brow hair rather than your current hair colour for the most natural results.

What types of pigments do you use?

We use iron oxide pigments that will fade over time and are naturally absorbed by the skin. Iron oxides are innocuous, harmless and perfectly safe for your skin.

Can I have my brows microbladed if I’m pregnant?

No you cannot have this treatment done if you are pregnant in case of infection. pregnancy can suppress the immune system meaning the healing process can take longer.

Does it hurt afterwards?

The area can be a little sore for the first few hours and tender to touch for a couple days.

Can you microblade over an existing brow tattoo?

Yes, microblading can be done over an existing brow tattoo, however the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. Please advise if you have an existing tattoo we will ask you to send us a picture to determine if microblading would be an appropriate treatment for you.

Will my microbladed brows look fake?

NO! Microblading requires a unique artistry which guarantees a soft, natural looking eyebrow.

Are there any side effects during or after the procedure?

During the procedure there may be some minor bleeding. This does depend on the client. If you take blood thinners on a daily basis, then it is more common that some slight bleeding may occur. Bruising is rare but can also occur. There is usually some tenderness for a few days.

PLEASE NOTE: IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PREDICT HOW WELL YOUR SKIN WILL RETAIN THE PIGMENT. DUE TO THIS AND MANY OTHER VARYING FACTORS, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR RESULTS
